Chairman’s note

Hi All and welcome to the autumn edition of our newsletter. What Summer I hear you say?  I trust that the level of trade enjoyed year to date has been significantly better than the recent weather we have experienced. On a more positive note thanks to all the members who submitted content for this newsletter. The significant increase in submissions is an indicaton of the continuing increase of interest in our sector now that we are gradually putting the recession behind us.

The forthcoming Franchise exhibition in the RDS on September the 9th and 10th is certainly driving additional interest in Franchising. We see it first hand from the enquiries coming into the Associations central support office.  The Franchise exhibition team lead by Ceri Rogers have done an impressive job to date in launching what we have been advised will be, the largest franchise show in Ireland yet. The feedback from the confirmed participants to date is very strong and as an Association we look forward to forging even closer ties with Ceri and his team to ensure this becomes a fixed event in our franchise calendar.

We have worked closely with them to try to ensure that this expo will be a great success for them because the experience to date with other countries is that when both the representative body of the franchise sector and the Exhibition organisers work closely together it is the franchise sector that thrives. Thanks to all the members who have supported the initiative and if you aren’t in a position to support the event this year perhaps drop into the expo in September, assess how professionally the expo is being run and sign up for next year’s expo.

Finally can I extend an invitation to all or members to attend our forthcoming Associations AGM this coming Wednesday 24th in Beauchamps Solicitors Offices on Sir John Rogersons Quay at 3.00pm. We would encourage all members to find a couple of hours to support the Associations efforts.

Mr John Fahey, Senior Economist at AIB will provide an interesting and valuable up to date Economic Update post the Brexit decision. In addition, we would like to have an open discussion with members on what additional services our members would like us as an Association to provide on your behalf. Looking forward to seeing you all on Wednesday 24th.

If you could please confirm your attendance to tom.shanahan@irishfranchiseassociation.com that would be very helpful.

Best Wishes and continued good trading in 2016.
